Mike Shoreman Joins CMHF to Champion Men’s Mental Health
Mike’s story has become a platform to break down stigma and emphasize the value of social networks for people facing difficult health challenges.

Vancouver, BC, May 1, 2025 – The Canadian Men’s Health Foundation is proud to welcome Mike Shoreman—mental wellness advocate, speaker and bestselling author—as a National Champion to advance important conversations on men’s mental health. His story has become a platform to break down stigma and emphasize the value of social networks for people facing difficult health challenges.
After a life-altering health diagnosis, Mike lost his business, independence, and social connections, leading to a mental health crisis. He defied all odds, becoming the first person to paddleboard across all five Great Lakes, while raising awareness and funds for mental health initiatives.
“I’m joining CMHF as a National Champion because I think it’s important for men to see other men talk about their health, whether physical or mental,” says Mike. “I want men to realize they are not alone. Talking about what we are experiencing and struggling with is human.”
“Mike’s journey highlights the critical role of community and support systems for men battling health struggles,” says Kenton Boston, CMHF President and CEO. “We are proud to work with Champions like Mike to build a future where all men feel supported in their health journey.”
In an upcoming interview on CMHF’s Don’t Change Much Podcast, Mike dives more into his story, his challenges and how he overcame some of his darkest moments.
