Two-time Paralympic gold medalist Greg Stewart is one of Canada’s most dominant para-athletes with a sports career that spans over two decades. When he’s not training for the LA2028 Paralympic Games you’ll find him working as a motivational speaker/facilitator at his founding organization, The Mindfulete. Through there, Greg is transforming how men think about mental health by teaching people that vulnerability isn’t weakness; it’s a path to greater strength.
Greg is the only Canadian shot putter to win back-to-back gold medals in either the Olympic or Paralympic Games. He captured the top spot at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 in the F46 classification. Before specializing in shot put in 2017, Greg built an impressive multi-sport career earning three world titles in standing volleyball, bronze medals at two Parapan American Games in sitting volleyball and was named USport Defensive Player of the Year during his five seasons playing able-bodied basketball at Thompson Rivers University.
He has spent his life navigating what it means to be different as he was born without the lower part of his left arm. But his seven-foot-two-inch height is what Greg identifies as his biggest daily challenge. The constant spotlight and struggle to fit in profoundly impacted his mental health, which led him on a journey that showed him strength in personal empowerment training and therapy. Today, Greg channels that experience through his empowerment coaching brand (The Mindfulete) by building on three core principles: Ownership, Trust, and Integrity.
Greg teaches that true strength comes from being “comfortable being uncomfortable” — a philosophy he lives by both on and off the field. Whether it’s competing at the highest level, serving on the boards of Athletics Canada and AthletesCAN, advocating for better athlete funding or preparing for fatherhood with his wife Taylor, Greg models vulnerability as a superpower. He’s also co-author of the children’s book Stand Out and lives in Kamloops, B.C.
“Stand in your truth, and let it do the work.”
