  1. We’ve been battling this issue since we started the no extra sugar with our kids who are 11 and 13. We spent probably 20-30 minutes in the cereal isle looking at the labels. We said no sugar cereal. It was very difficult, besides everything has almost more than 8 grams. And I thought raisin bran would be a good choice. oh heck no. It had 18 grams of sugar!!!! That’s more than almost any other sugary kids cereal. So if you want raisins in your cereal better just buy the bran flakes and add your own raisins. But we’re going to stick with it. It’s well worth it when it comes to your health.

  2. Thank you Caitlin for providing this information in a format that explains nutrition, sugar, fiber, whole grains, protein well and is understandable that it can be useful.
I eat lots of fiber but am constipated on a daily basis. Can you eat too much fiber that may be in excess of 38 grams per day without having any difficulties with constipation? (I don’t know how much fiber that I eat but try to eat lots of fiber and also eat healthy).

    1. Hello, Dustin! I have an answer from Caitlin for you here: “Yes it’s possible to exceed the 38g fibre recommendation without constipation. The key is a gradual increase in fibre, and ensuring you have a good balance of both soluble (eg. ground flax seed, oranges) and insoluble fibre (whole wheat flour, nuts). Plenty of fluids is also critical to avoid constipation, as well as regular movement and exercise.”
