Vancouver, Nov. 1, 2023 – Toronto Maple Leafs Assistant Coach and accomplished NHL player Manny Malhotra joins the Canadian Men’s Health Foundation (CMHF) as a National Champion to elevate important conversations on men’s health.

Malhotra defined his 17-year NHL career as a two-way forward, faceoff specialist and team leader. He was also the second player of South Asian descent to play in the NHL. Now a coach, husband and father, Malhotra understands the unique barriers that men face when battling issues with their physical and mental health.

“I was motivated to become a CMHF National Champion because I want to better educate myself about mental and physical health and be able to help others,” says Malhotra. “The tools and resources CMHF offers help men become better aware of their health and remind us that small changes can have big impacts.”

A special episode of the Don’t Change Much Podcast airing November 7, features a conversation with Manny about his transition from NHL athlete to coach, and how he balances his career, health, and family. He also talks about taking Men’s Health Check to better understand his own health risks, and to empower more men to understand theirs.

“Manny is an influential athlete, coach, and father who has a deep understanding of the role that physical and mental health play in our day-to-day, and future lives,” says TC Carling, CMHF President & CEO. “We are proud to add his voice to our roster of Champions who are inspiring and motivating men and their families across Canada to make their health a priority.”
