Dr. Larry Dian, MB, BCh, FRCPC

Geriatrician and Clinical Professor


Dr. Dian is a practicing Geriatrician at Vancouver General Hospital and a Clinical Professor with the University of British Columbia.

Dr. Dian is a Geriatrician practicing at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and a clinical professor since January 2009. He completed the Fellowship Training Program in Geriatric Medicine at University of British Columbia (UBC) and UCLA in Los Angeles, California. He is past Division Head of Geriatric Medicine at UBC and department head of Geriatric medicine at Vancouver General Hospital. Medical Director of the Fall Prevention Clinic and Clinical Director of the Falls and Fracture Prevention clinic at Vancouver General Hospital.

Dr. Dian’s interest is in promoting high quality of care for the frail elderly, working regularly with undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in Medicine, with ongoing research in osteoporosis and falls in the frail elderly.

Awards and Recognition

Dr. Dian is the recipient of the following:

  • Fay R Dirks Award for Excellence in Teaching, VHHSC 1999 – 2000.
  • The Royal Canadian Legion Fellowship Award for Postgraduate Studies in the field of Geriatric Medicine.
  • Bobby Miller Award for excellence in teaching Vancouver General Hospital and University of British Columbia
  • The Donald M Whitelaw Award for outstanding grand rounds presentation Vancouver General Hospital 2010
