Why Men’s Health?

friends rypien bieksa
Kevin lost his friend and teammate, Rick Rypien to suicide in 2011. He has been a mental health advocate ever since, promoting resources to get help, and encouraging friends to check in with one another and listen without judgment.

Troy lost his dad Peter on Father’s Day in 2021 due to complications related to diabetes. To honour his memory, Troy launched the TS51 Foundation, raising awareness and funds for a health condition that affects 11.7M Canadians.

How your donation helps

The Canadian Men’s Health Foundation is committed to helping men and their families live longer, healthier lives. Your donation supports programs that directly impact men’s wellness.

Mental Health

75% of suicide deaths are by men

CMHF’s signature mental health program, MindFit Toolkit, offers free counselling, anxiety and depression screens and information on how to access help. To-date, more than 1,000 Canadian men have accessed no-cost counselling to help improve their mental health.

Physical Health

Men are more at risk of type 2 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is one of the most common health conditions affecting men in Canada. CMHF’s Men’s Health Check tool helps reduce the risk: the online survey evaluates risk for 8 of the most common men’s health conditions. Over 137,000 men have taken the Men’s Health Check survey and received a free personalized report.
